You can add a Donate Button to your Facebook page at no cost to you.
Things you'll need before you get started:
- A Facebook page for your cause
- To be an administrator of the cause's page
Note: Facebook regularly update their website (and sometimes display different versions to different users). If the instructions below no longer work, please let us know here.
Step 1
Log in to Facebook and visit your Charity's Facebook Page. To the bottom right of your cover photo, you should see a big blue button labelled +Add a Button. This will open a popup window.
Don't see +Add a Button?
You may have a button already (e.g. Contact Us). You will need to remove this before you can add a Donate Button. To remove, hover over the button and select Delete Button from the list that appears.
Step 2
Inside the popup will be 5 dropdown boxes. Select Shop with you or make a donation and then select Donate. Click Next.
Don't see a dropdown option for "Donate"?
This is most likely caused by your page having the wrong category set. You'll need to change your page category to "Companies & Organisations > Non-Profit Organisation".
Full instructions for changing your category can be found on Facebook's Help Center.
Step 3
Page 2 of the popup is where you add the link to your donate page. Click Website Link and copy and paste the link from your admin area into the popup:
Click Save, then Finish and that's it! Your Facebook page will now display a Donate Button to your visitors, allowing them to donate straight to your cause.
